Ford Announces Souped Up Mach-E GT Performance Edition

Ford announced today that it will be coming out with an even quicker variant of its “already-fast electric pony.” A new version of the Mustang Mach-E GT called the Mach-E GT Performance Edition will will be available late next summer.

With this new souped up version of the Mach-E GT, Ford is aiming to achieve a 0-60 mph of just 3.5 seconds. The American automaker is also targeting an EPA-estimated range of 235 mile. According to Ford, it will come equipped with 480 hp and 634 lbs of torque. In order to handle the additional torque, as well as improve grip, the Mach-E GT Performance Edition will come equipped with an 88-kWh battery pack. In order to help improve the electric crossover’s handling, the new variant will also feature Pirelli summer tires and MagneRide damping.

Darren Palmer, Ford’s global director of battery electric vehicles, said about the announcement:“We already pushed the envelope by creating an electric vehicle with the pony badge, so it’s only natural that we push it even further. Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition not only gives you the added performance you expect from the GT name, but accentuates the thrill with the responsiveness of an all-electric powertrain.”

The changes however, don’t stop at the power upgrades. In addition, the Mach-e GT Performance Edition will also get several other sporty features including, a unique carbonized gray grille, a Performance Edition GT badge at the rear, 19-inch front brakes, red-painted Brembo brake calipers, and 20-inch machined-face Ebony Black-painted wheels.

As far as the interior, we find Performance Gray ActiveX upholstery with special metallic stitching and Miko perforated reflective inserts on the Mach-E GT Performance Edition’s exclusive performance-sculpted front seats. In addition, a unique aluminum appliqué enhancement can be found on the instrument panel.

Exterior paint options will remain the same for both the Mach-E GT and GT Performance Editions. Both will be offered in signature Mustang colors including Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat, Dark Matter Gray Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Star White Metallic Tri-Coat, Grabber Blue Metallic, Shadow Black, Iconic Silver Metallic, and Space White Metallic.
