The first teaser images of the highly anticipated IONIQ 5 midsize CUV were released today by Hyundai Motor Company. The IONIQ 5 will be the first model in the automaker’s IONIQ dedicated BEV lineup brand.
In addition, Hyundai released four teaser videos about the new model. Three of the four videos feature an individual doing a different camping activity that requires electricity, showcasing the midsize CUV’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology used as a general power supply:
The fourth video, called ‘5 Min Challenge,’ highlights the IONIQ 5’s ultra-fast charging capability. It allows the electric CUV to drive over 100km (about 60 miles) after charging only 5 minutes (WLTP Standard). To prove how incredible this actually is, a challenge was orchestrated using the IONIQ 5, a smartphone, a laptop, and an action camera. Each device was charged for five minutes and then the countdown began: which would live the longest?
Hyundai is expected to debut the IONIQ 5 in a virtual world premiere event in February 2021.
