Polaris Teases First Vehicle Under “rEV’d Up” Partnership

This morning, electric off-road vehicle manufacturer Polaris revealed its plans for its all-new 2022 RANGER EV. The full-size electric side-by-side utility vehicle will use an electric powertrain from Zero Motorcycles.

Polaris and Zero Motorcycles announced they would be joining forces last year in a new partnership to co-developing electric off-road vehicles. As Polaris explained: “This exclusive partnership in off-road vehicles (ORV) and snowmobiles is a cornerstone component of rEV’d up, Polaris’ long-term strategy to position the company as the leader in powersports electrification.”

The partnership will combine four-wheeled, off-road electric vehicles developed by Polaris with Zero’s electric powertrain technology. The new 2022 RANGER EV will be the first electric vehicle developed under the new “rEV’d up” partnership.

The 2022 RANGER EV is expected to makes its way to dealerships by early 2022 but Polaris is planning a full unveiling of the electric utility terrain vehicle sometime in December of this year.

Mike Speetzen, interim CEO of Polaris said in a statemtent regarding the upcoming vehicle (via Electrek):

“Our rEV’d up strategy positions Polaris to help define yet another chapter in powersports innovation. With the rising interest in electrified vehicles, we are investing in electrification in order to meet the needs of current customers as well as appeal to tomorrow’s powersports riders. The all-new electric RANGER is our latest effort aimed at leading the industry forward in electrified powersports vehicles.”

Along with the 2022 RANGER EV announcement, Polaris provided a teaser image, emphasis on teaser as you can just barely see the front of the vehicle and its headlight setup:

As mentioned above, Polaris is expected to do a full unveiling of the 2022 RANGER EV sometime this December where we can get a good look at the upcoming UTV and learn more about its technical specifications.
