According to a new email from Volkswagen, the German automakers is making a new batch of ID.4 1st Edition electric SUVs for the US market.
The Volkswagen ID.4 is the first new EV on VW’s new MEB platform that is available across the globe. It comes equipped with an 82 kWh battery (77 kWh usable energy) allowing a single charge EPA-rated range of 250 miles. The ID.4 Pro has a starting price of $39,995 and is expected to be available in the US in the near future. Volkswagen launched a batch of the 1st Edition version of the ID.4 starting at $43,995 which comes with more design enhancements than the ID.4 Pro, however, those were spoken for within a few hours of its launch in the US.
After the “few thousand” 1st Edition ID.4s were claimed, we didn’t think we would see anymore 1st Editions from the German automaker, at least in the US. However, VW began contacting individuals who hold reservations for other versions of the ID.4 to give them a head up that they are making another batch of 1st Editions that will be available in the US.
According to several ID.4 reservations holders, they received an email today stating:
“When we launched the all-new Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV, the 1st Edition model sold-out in a staggering 8 hours. That enthusiasm excited us, so we created a few more ID.4 1st edition models available to reserve. And we wanted to tell you first, before we told anyone else.
On January 7th, you can change your reservation to a 1st Edition ID.4 electric SUV while reservations last. Your $100 initial reservation fee will be automatically transferred-simple as that.”
Although no timeline was given on when the additional batch of 1st Editions will be available, but it is exciting none the less. They may even launch before the ID.4 Pro which is expected in the near future in the US.
