After a cheesy April fools joke played by Tesla CEO Elon Musk back in 2018, what started as a gag actually came to fruition. In April of 2018, Elon Musk ‘filed for bankruptcy’ as an April Fools joke along with a photo of him seemingly passed out after consuming his fair share of “Teslaquila.” The joke got a lot of attention but mostly Tesla enthusiasts asking the company to make Tesla Tequila a real thing:
Fast forward to current day and Tesla Tequila is officially a thing. Two years later, the EV giant announced the arrival of Tesla Tequila which comes with a hefty $250 price tag.
Tesla said about its new liquor: “Introducing Tesla Tequila, an exclusive, small-batch premium 100% de agave tequila añejo made from sustainably sourced highland and lowland agaves. Aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and into a hand-blown glass bottle, Tesla Tequila features a dry fruit and light vanilla note with a balanced cinnamon pepper finish. Best enjoyed as a sipping tequila.”
Of course this product will surely be a novelty item and most likely will mainly be bought to display the cool lightning bolt bottle. Although with the current global pandemic as well as the awaiting the results from the nail-biting U.S. election, I’m sure a lot of us could use a bottle of Tesla Tequila right about now.
