With no scientific data available for the popularity of upcoming vehicles, it is hard to get an idea of which automakers are leading. We turn to tentative reservation numbers, surveys, and social media data to get a grasp on which vehicles are popular in different areas.
InsideEVs was able to get ahold of a map designed by Ryan Taylor and put together by auto site partcatalog.com, using trend software that accesses geotagged Twitter data. This map is focused specifically on upcoming electric pickups including the Rivian R1T, Tesla Cybertruck, Bollinger B2, Nikola Badger, and Lordstown Endurance.
The geotagged Twitter data used for the map is from the month of July 2020. In order to compile the data, over 90,000 tweets related to electric trucks were tracked in all 50 U.S. states, particularly the models that were frequently mentions. See the results in the map below.
