Chinese company, BYD has refreshed its small city crossover the Yuan EV, now dubbed the Yuan Pro. The refreshed Yuan Pro is equipped with the companies new Blade Battery. A lithium-iron-phosphate chemistry in a cell-to-pack system.
In regards to the electric crossover’s energy content, the refresh actually resulted in a decrease from 53.2 kWh to 50.1 kWh, leaving the range at 249 miles instead of the previous 255 miles. Not a drastic drop, but still worth noting.
Something that also stay relatively the same is its DC fast charging capability. It is capable of recovering a 30-80% charge in 30 minutes at up to 60 kW.
In addition to its DC fast charging capabilities, the prices are also similar to the previous generation, with a price ranging between $18,550 – $20,095.
The Yuan Pro does however bring some new features with its refresh including the new Dragon Face 3.0 front design. Reminiscent of the BYD Han, the Yuan Pro comes equipped with front LED headlights, new wheels, a new DiLink 3.0 infotainment with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, and Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates.
BYD hopes the new refreshed Yuan Pro will see the kind of success the original Yuan EV experienced, selling thousands a month.
The BYD Yuan Pro comes with a NEDC range of 401 km (249 miles and 50.1 kWh BYD Blade Battery. Using a power output of 100 kW and a 210 Nm electric motor the electric crossover it able to reach 0-50 km/h (31 mph) in 3.9 seconds, and will come as a front-wheel drive EV.
