Something New Spotted at Tesla’s Fremont Facility

New Tesla Solar Roof tiles have been spotted at the automakers factory in Fremont, CA, and this time in a new color.

The EV giant unveiled its Solar Roof tiles in 2016. Upon its unveiling. We learned that the product wasn’t fully formed yet, but already had several different designs.

Up until about the last year, testing and installation times caused some bumps in the road when it came to volume production and deployment. Early this year Tesla begin seeking new hires to ramp up installations, but even so, so far we’ve only seen one version of the tiles being installed on a customer roof.

Originally Tesla was slated to offer the tiles in four different styles: Textured Glass Tile, Slate Glass Tile, Tuscan Glass Tile, and Smooth Glass Tile. The textured style was the first to become available with the other styles to be released soon after, however, that has yet to happen.

Now, thanks to some new drone footage, we might be seeing these new Tesla Solar Roof tiles in the coming weeks as they were spotted on some of Tesla’s test homes for solar roofs. Apparently a group of Tesla short sellers were flying over Tesla’s facilities in the Bay Area and came across the new styles:

Going off the color, it looks like it might be the Tuscan glass type, but the photo is taken from so far away, we can’t be sure.

The Tesla test homes were built at its factory in order to test its solar tiles, obviously, but to also to train roofing teams to quickly and efficiently install the tiles.

At some point, people in Canada and Europe will be able to get their hands on Tesla Solar Roof as the company plans to expand this offering at some point in the future.
