FIRST LOOK: Lordstown’s Rendering of Endurance Race Truck

Last week, Lordstown Motors announced its plans to enter the Endurance Beta into the 2021 SCORE international San Felipe 250. Now the company has released the first ever rendering of the race truck which is inspired by the design of the automaker’s upcoming Endurance pickup.

The race is part of the SCORE World Desert Championship series and is held in the Mexican desert. It is one of the hardest exhausting, and punishing deserts a vehicle can face. It covers a distance of 290-mile and starts and ends in San Felipe, a town located in Baja California, Mexico. This year’s race will begin on April 17.

Lordstown Motors aims to prove that its new Endurance is one of the safest and most efficient trucks on the market with its entry into this race as only the toughest and most robust pickups dare to face the hardness of the San Felipe Desert.

CEO of Lordstown Motors, Steve Burns said about the plans to enter the race: “it is quite an important milestone for electric vehicles that an electric truck can compete in an environment as demanding as Baja California.”

Burns added: “the goal is to be the first electric vehicle to complete the San Felipe 250, and with superior traction, weight balance and advanced software control of our in-wheel motor-based Endurance, we are confident that we will do precisely that.”
