After the excellent reception the Taycan has had, Porsche is accelerating its electric car projects with an upcoming move embodied in its most popular Macan model. The SUV will abandon combustion engines in 2022 when it becomes an exclusively electric alternative.
The electric Porsche Macan will be based on the new PPE modular platform and feature the new 800-volt architecture that the saloon debuted. Thanks to this, the Macan will also be able to access ultra-fast recharges, which will allow this model to recover 248 miles of autonomy in less than 20 minutes, according to those responsible for the brand. Without a doubt, a critical piece of information for those looking for a model to travel with, and even with the expansion of charging networks, if you don’t have the luxury of a charger at home.
It is expected to feature the same configurations as the Taycan, with an access version that will feature 350 kW (477 hp). This would mean that the less powerful electric performance would outperform the more powerful gasoline, the Macan Turbo that has 441 hp, leaving room to offer even more extreme variants.
This electric Porsche will have to face models such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E or the Tesla Model Y, which should surpass in sportiness and level of luxury. It will also be a step above alternatives such as the Audi Q4 e-Tron, the BMW iX3, the Jaguar I-Pace, or the Mercedes-Benz EQC it will undoubtedly enter into an exciting competition.
