MG Confirms it will Launch Two New EVs in Europe in 2021

Yesterday there was the presentation of the new MG model for Europe. A plug-in hybrid SUV. But the most exciting thing is that during that same event, the president of the manufacturer, now in Chinese hands, has confirmed that in 2021 they will expand their offer of electric cars with two new proposals that will stand out for their competitiveness technical and also an economic aspect.

At the moment, they have not given much information, but they have indicated that one of them will be an SUV that will be placed above the ZS for size and performance. A proposal destined to become the flagship of the Asian brand in its European offensive.

Very possibly, this will be based on the Marvel X. A model and presented earlier this year, and which is already on sale in China under the Roewe brand, also owned by the giant SAIC.

This D-SUV mounts a powerful propulsion system consisting of three electric motors, which provide it with all-wheel drive and a power of 302 hp and a torque of 665 Nm, which will shoot it up to 62mph in just 4.8 seconds. It mounts a battery with a capacity of 52.5 kWh, which allows it to reach 249 miles under the Chinese cycle.

A tight autonomy will compensate with extensive equipment, which includes one of the first level 3 autonomous driving systems. Something that reinforces the brand’s latest products’ technical nature, which little by little is abandoning the low philosophy – a cost that characterized it during the last decade.

For its part, the second option from MG is described as something unique in its segment. A model with a somewhat lower body, but very elongated, reminds me of something like a minivan.

Two new proposals will reach the market in 2021, and I really hope it will further increase competitiveness in the electric car sector.
