BMW i4 and its M Sports Version to be Presented in July 2021

In recent months, BMW has revealed great news related to its electric range. The presentation of the MINI Cooper SE, the confirmation of the development of electric variants of the X1, Series 5, and Series 7 models, the launch of the iX3 and iX electric SUVs… The Bavarian firm is putting all the meat on the grill in its electrification process.

However, the main course is yet to come. The German company plans to market the i4 next year, a family sedan derived from the Series 4 Gran Coupé that will have the task of becoming the electric alternative to the legendary Series 3 within the manufacturer’s European offer (in China An electric version of the Series 3 itself will be launched directly, which will take up the already known name i3).

The BMW i4 will have to stand up to the Tesla Model 3, which is currently the best-selling electric car on the planet by a lot of difference. Also, it will be in charge of “defending” the Bavarian firm’s colors against alternatives such as the Audi A5 Sportback e-Tron (whose date of arrival on the market is still unknown) or Volvo’s Polestar 2.

So far, BMW had not provided any specific date for the launch of the i4 either; However, in a recent video published by the brand, we have been given the first clue. The clip, entitled “M Town,” shows us a city whose streets have been taken over by M models (BMW’s sports division), the main protagonist being an M3 E30 from the eighties.

In the video, we can also see an M3 E92 (from the mid-2000s) transformed into a pick-up next to an operator with an “M Power” charging point. In the making off of the short film, you can also see an attractive sign on the door of the M3 pick-up: Electric Service 089 26 2021. Week 26 of 2021 runs from June 28 to July 4.

This has probably been the date chosen to present the 4 Series Gran Coupé and i4, as well as their sports versions, the M4 Gran Coupé and i4 M. This latest model will become the most powerful of the entire 4 Series range (including thermal, plug-in and electric hybrids) thanks to the use of two electric motors it will reach 530 hp.
