In September, Volkswagen unveiled the ID.4 electric crossover SUV and now we are seeing a new variant which was captured during testing. The new variant of the electric crossover is a coupe-like version that we could see debut as early as next year.
Although no confirmation of a new more dynamically styled ID.4 was given from the German automaker, if it is in fact in VW’s plans, we will likely see it arrive as a 2022 model.
The spy shots (via Motor Authority) show a coupe-like version that looks practically identical to the regular ID.4. However, there are still subtle differences including a curved roof that connects to a rear hatch, as well as a small rear spoiler at the base of the rear windshield instead of mounted at the top as seen on the regular ID.4.
As far as its powertrain, it is safe to assume it will stay similar to the current ID.4 powertrain with a 82 kWh battery. A single electric motor at the rear axle generates 201 horsepower as standard, while the 82 kWh battery with a dual-motor system all-wheel drive option generates 302 horsepower.
Deliveries for the regular ID.4 are expected to start early 2021 with a starting price of $41,190. At this time we can only assume that the ID.4 coupe will likely come to market with a slightly higher premium price than that of the current ID.4.
