Ford announced today that its upcoming all-electric Transit, which will now be called the E-Transit, will be unveiled on November 12, 2020. Bringing an electric van to the market is kind of a no brainer, with deliveries sky rocketing lately in part due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Ford, e-commerce sales expanded by 32% year-over-year in Q1 and by 44% in Q2.Â
Initially the van was scheduled to launch in 2021 for the European market. However, we have since learned that in it will also be launched in the U.S. and Canada.
Fords investments of over $11.5 billion towards electrifications reflect in the introduction of its new upcoming E-Transit, as well as the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E and all-electric Ford F-150 Electric.
No more details were given by Ford regarding the E-Transit, but in addition to its announcement, Ford also released survey results regarding environmental impact caused by delivery vehicles around the world. These result show over 60% of Americans and 68% of Brits care about the environmental impact of delivering goods to their homes. A 12% increase from earlier this year in the U.S. Also, in the US, UK, and Germany, half of respondents said they’d choose a green delivery service over a gas-powered one if price and arrival times were the same. Furthermore, even if they had to wait longer for a delivery via zero emissions vans, close to half of Americans and Brits said they would do so.
