Volvo XC40 Recharge Starting Price Confirmed

Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 AWD in Glacier Silver

The price of the XC40 Recharge, which was expected to come to the market with a price tag under $55,000, has been now been confirmed by Volvo. The electric version of Volvo’s best-selling small SUV will come with an official starting price of $53,990 before destination fees. The XC40 will be Volvo’s first all-electric vehicle.

In addition to the official starting price, Volvo also confirmed several specs for the XC40 Recharge. These specs include a 78 kWh battery pack for a range of “over 250 miles (400 km)” based on WLTP and a dual motor 300 kW powertrain. The company also confirmed an 11 kW onboard charger and 150 kW DC fast-charging capability. It will have a top speed of 112 mph and can accomplish 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

Production for the XC40 Recharge started last month but no official price had been confirmed until now:

In the U.S. the price of the XC40 Recharge will decrease to less than $50,000 after incentives, and could fall as low as $45,000 in some states due to larger incentives. Although it is still about $20,000 more than its gasoline-powered brother, it is still a fair price for a small electric SUV, and should allow it to compete with the best of existing and upcoming electric SUVs on the market.
