Quality Issues Turn New Model Y into Convertible

New reports of quality control issues have surfaced with a video of a brand new Model Y losing its roof while in motion.

Just last month, the Next Avenue reported extreme quality issues found in newly delivered Model Ys from Tesla. The issues seen were not only scuffed bodies and poorly applied paint, but also included notched upholstery, rear seats that were not properly anchored, as well as water leaks within the roof.

Tesla has been chipping away at these issues since they began surfacing, but new Model Y owners are continuing to come forward with complaints about the quality of their EVs.

The most extreme case that was recently reports is one of a Model Y owner who claims had his roof fall off the car while he was driving it home. He shared a video of the incident via Twitter:

The Model Y comes with a single glass-pane stretching the entire length of the roof that, if it goes missing, exposes the entire interior of the car.

In addition, the new Tesla owner’s son took to the Tesla subreddit to describe the incident writing “My dad bought a brand new model Y today, and he brought me along to pick it up just in case he needed help with any tech problems. Everything was going fine and we were driving back home when we started to hear a ton of wind. I thought maybe a window was open but a minute later the entire glass roof just blew off. After a brief panic we turned around and drove the new Tesla convertible back to the dealership.”
