The Tesla Model Y is undoubtedly an impressive vehicles with its 291 mile range, 0-60 mph time, and 155 mph top speed. It has a starting price of around $60,000 and features upwards of 500 horsepower. But can it hold up to the Lamborghini Murciélago that can be purchased new for a little less than $300,000, and comes equipped with a 6.5 liter V12 engine giving it around 600 horsepower.
Brooks Weisblat of DragTimes recently posted a video to the DragTimes YouTube channel showing a Lamborghini Murciélago compete against a Tesla Model Y in a drag race.
Looking at the two cars there is no question that the Lamborghini looks like it would annihilate the Tesla. However, the results show us that this is far from the truth. The Model Y completes the quarter mile with a time of 11.93 seconds while the Lamborghini was lost in the shadows with a time of over 14 seconds. Not only was this an unexpected win to most, but the Model Y used in the drag race was only charged at 89%. It must also be noted that Weisblast jumped the line while in the Lamborghini but it is unlikely the defeat was due solely to operator error.
