A month after the opening of the configurator and the pre-reservations of the First Edition version of the ID.3, Volkswagen has officially confirmed that on the 20th of July this year, orders will be opened for customers throughout Europe.
In this way, a new step is taken in the deployment of this crucial model that customers will be able to select from seven different configurations, in addition to completing the acquisition of the charger for their home.
These customers will be able to access the WeCharge charging service for 3 years. This application works with the charging points created by the brand, and also includes many other operators. This allows you to dispense with the many cards that many freight providers require.
Volkswagen has also confirmed that the software for the first units will be limited. This will mean, for example, that the first customers to receive their unit in October will have to wait until the first quarter of 2021 to receive the AppConnect application and the distance function of the augmented reality display screen in the «Tech» and «Max».
For its part, the rest of the models delivered from that first quarter of 2021 will already have these functions from the first moment.
In total there will be up to six versions (Life – Style – Business – Family – Tech – Max) in addition to the First Edition, each with a level of equipment and of course a price. All get a 58kWh battery and 201bhp electric motor for an official driving range of 261 miles and a 0-37mph time of 3.4 seconds – a drivetrain VW calls ProPerformance.
