BMW has unexpectedly unveiled its new all-electric vehicle, the i4, which will come with an EPA-based range of of up to 300 miles.
BMW released its first all-electric vehicles in 2013, the i3. After seven years, the German automaker has finally brought another EV to market, even if it isn’t in North America.
During the BMW Group Annual Conference today, the automaker unexpectedly unveiled the i4, ahead of its launch.
Unfortunately, they did not reveal all the specs and features, but said that that will happen in the upcoming weeks.
The automaker did reveal that depending on the version, the i4 will be capable of achieving “up to 590km (WLTP) and up to 300 miles (EPA)” of range based on their own estimates.
The upcoming i4 will have a power output of up to 390kW/530HP, which allows it to complete a 0 to 60 mph acceleration in about four seconds.

According to the automaker, the i4 “a fully electric 4 door Gran Coupé” that will “enter the market during the course of 2021,” along with a BMW M Performance variant.
Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands, and Sales, Pieter Nota, commented on the unveiling: “With its sporty looks, best in class driving dynamics and zero local emissions, the BMW i4 is a true BMW. It makes the heart of the BMW brand now beat fully electric,”
The i4 is expected to be the automaker’s new flagship electric vehicle this year. More information regarding the electric sedan’s interior and tech features will be revealed in the coming week according to the automaker.
