A new, more revealing spy video of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQS all-electric flagship has surfaced and it’s probably the closest look we’ve seen to date. It is slated to be a roomier and quieter EV equivalent to the S-class.
In the almost 2 minute video posted by YouTube channel walkOARTvideos, we see a prototype with practically no camouflage on the roof and some bare rectangles patches on the hood and doors.
The upcoming EV will be the first model to be built on the new Mercedes Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform, along with at least four other upcoming EVs. Production of the EQS is expected to start in the first half of 2021 at Factory 56 in Sindelfingen, Germany.
Earlier this week, Mercedes announced its flagship vehicle will be able to offer surgery room clean air thanks to an optional HEPA air-filtration system, as well as ultra-technical infotainment software with ‘revolutionary’ AI that supports over-the-air upgrades. Mercedes-Benz Chief Technology Officer, Sajjad Khan commented “We will offer our best software solution to date in the new EQS. The underlying AI is revolutionary.”
The EQS is expected to have a single charge WLTP range that exceeds 435 miles, putting its EPA test cycle range somewhere around 350 miles. Check out the clip below to see the EQS sans full camo:
