Some interesting teasers are coming from Mercedes after announcing its plans to introduce six new EQ models by 2022. The German automaker’s flagship electric car, the EQS, is expected to launch in first quarter of 2021. It will be the first model to be built on the new Mercedes Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform, along with at least four other upcoming EVs.
Now we are learning from the company that the EQS will have an optional HEPA air-filtration system. With the on-going global pandemic and the worsening environmental climate across the globe, the air-filtration system could be a selling point for some folks. It claims to be the first system in the automotive sector to have DIN EN 1822 certification, and can apparently make the interior of the vehicle as clean as an operating room.
Additionally, the company revealed the EQS will come equipped with ultra-technical infotainment software with ‘revolutionary’ AI that supports over-the-air upgrades. “We will offer our best software solution to date in the new EQS. The underlying AI is revolutionary.”
The EQS is expected to be available for purchase by the end of 2021 and will be followed by a smaller EQE sedan.
