Lexus Opens Online Reservations for its First Fully Electric Car: UX 300e

Lexus is officially accepting online reservations for its UX 300e crossover, the company’s first fully electric vehicle. The new electric model comes with an expected price of £43,900 if basing it off its existing UX. Customers can also choose to purchase two different packs for an additional charge.

The first of the two is the Premium Plus Pack. It will include a heated steering wheel, leather seat upholstery, ventilation function on the front seats, wireless smartphone charger, heated outer rear seats, smart keyless entry, card key, and illuminated door handles with puddle lights.

The second is the Takumi Pack which has even more features. It will include a 13-speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound audio system, 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor, Lexus Navigation with 10.3-inch display, power-operated tailgate with hands-free function, head-up display, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with auto brake, and triple-eye LED headlights with Adaptive High-beam System.

The UX 300e will have a range of 196 miles thanks to a 201PS electric motor and a 54.3kWh battery. It has a claimed 0-60 mph time of 7.5 seconds with 300Nm of torque. A 50 kW DC charger allows it to recover an 80% charge in about 52 minutes.

The electric version of the Lexus UX Crossover comes with standard features that include Lexus Safety System+, Bi-LED headlights with Automatic High Beam, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, heated power-adjustable front seats, illuminated entry, smartphone integration, aluminum roof rails, automatic wipers, 17-inch alloy wheels, and power steering wheel adjustment.

Director of Lexus in the UK, Ewan Shepherd, said “Anticipation has been high for the arrival of the UX 300e, the first production model in our Lexus Electrified global vision for creating high-quality cars that deliver the low emissions benefits of electric power together with strong performance and a genuinely rewarding driving experience.”

Shepherd also stated “Lexus has unparalleled experience in electrified vehicle technology, having been a pioneer in the global premium market since the launch of the RX 400h SUV in 2004, the world’s first luxury hybrid. We will continue to develop the performance of our self-charging hybrid technology, offering our extensive range of models alongside new, all-electric vehicles, led by the new UX 300e.”

Orders are expected to begin in October of this year, with deliveries expected to start in March of 2021.
