Tesla China Hiring in Preparation of Increased Production

With Giga Shanghai’s expansion phase in full effect, Tesla China has put out hiring advertisements for Sales and Delivery positions in the country’s coastal provinces. The ad makes it clear that Delivery Experience Specialist and Products Experts are needed in Changsha, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, and Jiangxi

Tesla fanatic Kelvin Yang posted the two captured ads on Twitter:

At the moment, Gigafactory Shanghai has a build rate of 200,000 vehicles per year. It is currently responsible for the production of the Made-in-China Model 3. Once in Phase 2A, the factory will be responsible for producing the Model Y which could explain the ramp in hiring.

As we know, the Model 3 has recently become one of the country’s most popular automobiles. In order to keep up with the high demand of its vehicles, Tesla has focused on increasing its production rates in Shanghai. We have also seen the company add several new variants for the Model 3 that Chinese customers can choose from. With the reduction in price, government subsidies, and new vehicle configurations, it may be enough to sway an otherwise on the fence customer to select an electric vehicles by Tesla instead of a traditional gas powered vehicle.

With the growing demand of its vehicles, it was inevitable that Tesla would have to add more team members at its retail locations. Team members that will be essential in helping with the purchase and delivery of vehicles.

Tesla, like all automakers, have suffered from the shutdowns cause by the Coronavirus. However, Tesla still managed to meet delivery expectations during Q2 with a total of 90,650 recorded deliveries. A number that Gigafactory Shanghai significantly contributed to.

Although deliveries for the Model Y aren’t expected to start until 2021, it’s not unlike Tesla to begin deliveries sooner than anticipated. We can only assume that the company’s hiring push is in preparation for an increase in volume in the near future.
