The Normal Fire Department just announced that Rivian is developing an electric ambulance with the same base as the Amazon truck van. It would be great news if it weren’t for April fools.
Rivian played along with the Fire Department to bring some joy amongst the chaotics news of the coronavirus. They used photoshop to make the vehicle look real. They tweeted it along with a post on the Facebook page: “The Rivian R1A Ambulance will be built on a similar frame and body as the Amazon.com Prime delivery fleet that will be built at the Normal, Illinois automotive plant.”

The joke caught media attention, then the Normal Fire Department shared that it was not a real concept and just a way to lighten up our spirits in this conturbed moment we are all living around the world.
