A significant number of American cities require buildings to have EV charging stations. The new residential developments in Chicago, with 24 or more units, have to provide at least two EV ready parking spaces.
This initiative from Chicago is less aggressive than other states. In California, the EV manufacturers are asking for more government support while in Chicago, the focus is on the managers of buildings since they EV owners are more likely to charge their vehicles at home or work.
Public options in America remain scarce. California wants to build out its network infrastructure to 250,00 charges points by 2025.
