In a few days, Hyundai will present its first model based on the new E-GMP modular platform, the long-awaited IONIQ 5. This architecture, developed from scratch for 100% electric vehicles, will be characterized, among other things, by the use of an electrical system of 800 volts that will allow access to ultra-fast loads in direct current.
The rest of the Korean group brands, KIA and Genesis, will not take long to launch their own models developed on the new platform. Known internally under the code names KIA CV and Genesis JW EV, these vehicles will follow in the footsteps of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and adopt crossover-style bodies.
The KIA CV will also be in charge of releasing the brand’s new corporate logo, which was presented just a few days ago in style. This decision has not been made by chance, as the CV will mark a new beginning for the company thanks to its brilliant features and its significant technological load.
Among other things, KIA has confirmed that the model will be around 500 km of autonomy. It will be able to charge (we understand 80%) in just 20 minutes thanks to the 800 volts as mentioned above electrical system. It will first be available with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, exceeding 300 hp in its most performance variant.
Even though there are still several months left before its launch, KIA has released a first teaser of the CV to whet your appetite. In the video published as a preview, we can see the brand’s new logo located on a grill taken directly from the KIA Imagine Concept, a prototype presented in 2019 of which the production CV will take some stylistic features.
Its official debut is scheduled for September, likely to let the Hyundai IONIQ 5 capitalize on media attention for the first half of the year. KIA plans to launch a total of seven electric cars based on the E-GMP platform by 2027, with the CV being the first to arrive.
