BMW has once again shown new previews of its next electric car, the i4. The sedan derived from the 4 Series Gran Coupé will be presented in just a few months and will have the complicated task of facing the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2. Within the BMW range, it will be placed somewhere between the iX3 and iX at the level of benefits.
“For the first time, we have developed a BMW with sporty DNA from scratch for purely electric driving. The BMW i4 offers everything that BMW stands for, and it is also fully electric,” says project manager David Alfredo Ferrufino Camacho, who is particularly proud of the vehicle’s set-up.
“The BMW i4 conveys the feeling of being light and agile, but also solid and authoritative. With its superior directional reliability and high level of cornering stability, it feels like it literally sticks to the road. All-electric vehicles are capable of rapid acceleration in a straight line. But that’s not enough for us at BMW.”
In the images provided by BMW, it can be seen that the i4 will have a design very similar to that of the rest of the firm’s thermal models, distinguished by details such as the fairing grille and the recessed door handles, two details that will improve the car’s aerodynamics—thereby helping to achieve superior efficiency.
The model will be presented in June this year; however, the first deliveries will take place in April 2022.
