Musk Describes Full Self-Driving Rewrite as “Quantum Leap”

Elon Musk found himself on Twitter yet again, this time discussing Tesla’s upcoming Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capability rewrite. The CEO stated the “FSD improvement” will be a quantum leap adding that he already has it in his car and plans for it to go into limited public release in 6 to 10 weeks.

Tesla has been updating, improving, and tweaking its Full Self-Driving Capability for years. But the full rewrite of the technology’s “fundamental architecture” will not just be a tweak but a “quantum leap.”

Although an exciting thought, the system has quite a journey before it can be dubbed fully autonomous. Musk however, recently boasted his confidence of reaching Level 5 in the near future. Currently, it unofficially teeters between a Level 2 and Level 3 system with the CEO expecting the technology to be complete by the end of the year.

The CEO also responded to a question asking about regulatory approval, stating it is “hard to predict” as it is out of their hands.
