Audi E-Tron Becomes the Best Seller of the Year in its Segment

After a few tortuous starts, the Audi E-Tron seems to be managing to grease the machinery, and as shown by the high numbers, it is achieving this year worldwide.

In the first half of 2020, Audi delivered 17,641 units of the e-Tron worldwide. This represents an increase of 86.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. It also allows it to be ahead of its competitors in its segment, being even the best-selling electric SUV in general so far this year.

Such is the success of this model, that in Norway, the e-Tron accounts for 92% of Audi sales. Something that extends to other markets in the area such as Iceland (93%), Sweden (12%) and more distant ones where Audi users have primarily opted for e-Tron, such as Israel, has captured 14% of sales.

According to Hildegard Wortmann, a member of the Audi Sales and Marketing Management Board: “The e-Tron is a real revolution for us and clearly illustrates our vision of premium and sustainable mobility. Our first all-electric SUV combines design, dynamic handling, and interior quality with the latest technology for emission-free driving without compromising. The e-Tron is the beginning of a new era for Audi. We will continue this success story.”

An e-Tron has had to face factors such as its low autonomy, initially the result of the high margin of protection for the batteries, subsequently solved, and the improved efficiency of its electrical system.

But without a doubt, the most important thing is that this good reception will mean accelerating the expansion plans of an electric family that will mean the arrival of new proposals. This will mean the launch of some 20 fully electric models between 2020 and 2025. An e-Tron that, with its successes and mistakes, has become the spearhead of a program that will not stop growing in quantity in the coming months, expanding the possibilities of choosing customers looking to electrify their journeys.
