Volkswagen ID.4 Production Begins

ID.4

The Volkswagen ID.4 will be the first electric car based on the MEB modular platform manufactured internationally. This D-segment SUV will be produced in Europe, the United States, and China,l. Unlike the compact ID.3, it will be a global model. However, it will start to leave the production lines of the German factory in Zwickau first, with the start of its manufacturing in North America in 2022 (before that the car will be imported from the old continent).

The ID.4 will be a brother of the Audi Q4 e-Tron and Skoda Enyaq iV. In fact, it’s expected to share its entire powertrain with this latest model. Thus, we can expect the SUV to have three batteries: one of 55 kWh, another of 62 kWh, and a last one of 82 kWh. It will also be available with both rear-wheel drive (a single motor on the rear axle) and all-wheel drive (one motor on each axle).

In the United States, the model will start at an approximate price of $40,000, a very attractive rate. One of the strengths of this model, about 4.65 meters long, will be its habitability, product of an ample wheelbase, and an optimized bodywork thanks to its 100% electric powertrain (trimmed overhangs, flat floor, short hood, front windshield, etc.). The vehicle possibly offers the same 585-liter boot as the Skoda Eyaq iV.

Now, the YouTube channels next move has confirmed that the production of the Volkswagen ID.4 has started at the German plant in Zwickau. Although the date of the presentation of the model is still unknown, it is estimated that the first deliveries will take place later this year, so its release could take place in the coming weeks.
