The government will try to attract to Brazil the installation of a factory of the North American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, said federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro on Twitter on Thursday.
The deputy, who was already quoted by his father’s government, Jair Bolsonaro, to be Brazil’s ambassador to Washington, said on the social network that he participated in a video conference with the Minister of Science and Technology, Marcos Pontes, and the minister-adviser of US Embassy in Brazil, William Popp, to discuss the attraction of Tesla’s investment.
Electric vehicle sales in Brazil have grown and encouraged some launches that include a Toyota hybrid model that runs on an ethanol engine. GM launched the Bolt model in the country, imported from the USA, last year, and Renault already sells the Zoe and Leaf models in Brazil.
