After introduced in Europe, Jeep will present its new identification for electrified models. The plug-in hybrid versions of the Renegade and Compass cars gained an official name: 4xE. The official announcement will be made during the CES 2020 technology fair, which takes place January 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Just as the abbreviation 4×4, the Jeep 4xE will have independently provided four-wheel drive. The Firefly 1.3 turbo four-cylinder engine will propel the front wheels. Already the tram will be responsible for moving the rear wheels. This layout will allow Renegade and Compass to run 100% electric rear-wheel drive, front-wheel drive when using the combustion engine only, or 4×4 drive when the two engines operate together.
The electric range is 50 km or 31 miles. The batteries can be fully recharged at home, through the regenerative brake system, or even by the combustion engine itself. The set will have different power in Renegade and Compass and can reach up to 240 hp.
