Porsche Taycan Smashes Multiple Endurance Records

The Porsche Taycan has just set several endurance records on the British Brands Hatch circuit. This location is an old acquaintance for the Stuttgart brand, as in April 1970, a 917 driven by Pedro Rodríguez and Leo Kinnunen won a 1,000 km (621 miles) race held on the historic track.

Last December, Porsche returned to Brands Hatch with a Taycan 4S and a Taycan Turbo S. The strictly series vehicles were able to cover the same 1,000 km (621 miles) as the 917 fifty years ago, beating a total of 13 endurance records. This feat was certified by Motorsport UK.

At the wheel of the Taycan were Richard Attwood, former Le Mans driver; Jonathan Palmer, former Formula 1 driver; Harry King, 2020 Porche Carrera Cup GB champion; and James Dorlin, 2020 Porsche Sprint Challenge GB Cayman Islands champion. The event, which was punctuated by intermittent rains, lasted from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Taycan 4S set the time records from standstill for distances of 50 kilometers, 50 miles, 100 km, 500 km, 500 miles, and 1,000 km within the category of electric cars weighing more than 1,000 kg. It also set a record for the distance traveled in one hour starting from a standstill, reaching 98,182 km.

In the same category as its younger brother, the Taycan Turbo S set the time records from standstill for distances of 200 km, 100 miles, and 200 miles. Nor can we forget the records of distance traveled starting from a standstill in three hours (252,356 km), six hours (450,065 km), and 12 hours (915,762 km).
