Next year, BMW’s electric car program will take a definite step forward with the start of its first new-generation models. Gone will be the era of the i3 as the only representative in a range that will consist of a sedan, but also an SUV of which until now we only knew its design under strong camouflage.
But a few hours ago, BMW has published an image of the iNext Vision, which allows us to see where the Bavarian manufacturer’s shots will go in terms of the appearance that this electric SUV will have.
Although it is possible that from here to the beginning of production, the final design undergoes some modifications to see that BMW will bet on a rough and very futuristic look for the next proposal. A model that stands out for its characteristic front that is sure to have both defenders and detractors.
For the rest, we can also see the presence of an infinite glass for the roof, the absence of rear-view mirrors that have been replaced by cameras. An aerodynamic solution that extends to the door handles that are also integrated into the body.
A family proposal that seems to offer a large area for occupants and cargo, which, as we recall, will come equipped with up to three versions on the mechanical plane.
The entry version will have 308 hp (230 kW), the intermediate version will reach 522 hp (390 kW), and the top of the range will get 610 hp (455 kW). There are no confirmations for the battery, but it is rumored that it will add a battery that in its access version will reach 80 kWh, while the most capable can reach close to 100 kWh. This will allow the SUV to also exceed 370 miles of autonomy despite its worse aerodynamics and greater weight.
One of the main novelties within the BMW range will be that the iNext will have an autonomous driving system, which will allow this model to achieve Level 3 autonomy according to the latest information. Something that in practice means that the driver will only have to keep his hands on the wheel for a matter of legislation, but the car will perform most of the operations.
A model that should be presented in the middle of next year will begin its sales a few months later, just after the arrival of the i4.
