Deliveries of Rivian’s very first vehicle, the R1T electric pickup truck are slated to begin in just a couple months. Anticipation is high for what could be the first electric truck to market should it come before Tesla’s Cybertruck or GMC Hummer EV. It is especially high for the thousands of people who have put a deposit down for the Launch Edition model of the new electric truck. Rivian has been very open leading up to the R1T’s laucnh, at least when it came to the vehicles design and testing videos. However, we had yet to see and information regarding a factory warranty, that is until now. Rivian just released new vehicle warranty information on its website today to ease the minds of reservation holders and potential buyers alike.
According to the automaker’s website:
–Comprehensive: The cost of all parts and labor necessary for any defective materials are covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.
–Battery Pack: Coverage includes all components inside the high-voltage battery and 70% or more of the battery capacity for 8 years or 175,000 miles, whichever comes first.
–Drivetrain: Coverage includes the drivetrain and components for 8 years or 175,000 miles, whichever comes first.
–Corrosion (Perforation): Body panels that are perforated by corrosion will be covered for 8 years with unlimited miles.
An interesting, and surely beneficial, part of the warranty states that it can be transferrable to a new owner when selling the vehicle. According to the Rivian website, owners can contact customer service to determine if the warranty is transferable before selling their vehicle.
