Lucid CEO Comment Impressive Range Commented by Air

A few days ago, we echoed that the Lucid Air would achieve a range of 440 miles under the realistic American EPA homologation cycle according to a teaser from the brand. However, everything seems to indicate that this figure was not the final one. According to an independent test, the advanced model (whose presentation will take place on September 9) will finally homologate 517 miles.

Independent testing, based on the EPA cycle, confirms that the model will be a marvel of efficiency. “This new range was registered with FEV North America Inc in Auburn Hills, Michigan, applying the EPA multi-cycle test procedure (SAE Standard J1634 October 2012) with the standard adjustment factor. The results confirm that the Lucid Air is the electric vehicle with the longest range to date.”

Peter Rawlinson, CEO of Lucid, said concerning these results: “I am delighted that the Lucid Air has been independently tested by FEV and has reached an estimated EPA range of 517 miles, and that this milestone in the history of electric vehicle development has been fully accomplished through Lucid’s in-house technology.

I think our 900-volt architecture, road-tested battery packs, miniaturized engines, power electronics, integrated drivetrains, aerodynamics, chassis, thermal systems, software, and overall efficiency have reached a stage where a new standard is set, offering a host of world firsts.

Range and efficiency are recognized as key points when measuring the technical prowess of electric vehicles. A few years ago, we unveiled our Alpha Lucid Air prototypes and promised a range of over 440miles, a reflection of our current technology. In the interim period, we have achieved a series of technological advances that culminated in an unprecedented energy efficiency degree.

Therefore, I am pleased that we have consequently achieved an EPA range of 517 miles, while significantly reducing the capacity of our battery pack, reducing the weight and cost of the vehicle and improving the interior space. This exceptional efficiency, achieved through our in-house technology, is clearly a sign that we are an advanced electric vehicle company.”
