Tesla Owners with Sentry Mode Asked to Assist Police with Investigation

For possibly the first time ever, local police in Sandefjord, Norway are calling on Tesla owners to help them with an investigation.

Sandefjord is a city located south of Olso in Norway where on Sunday night, someone attempted to burn down the house of Bjørn Ole Geditsch, the Mayor of Sandefjord. The local police are investigating the incident as an attempted murder.

There are currently no known suspects. However, with Teslas being an overwhelmingly popular form a transportation in Norway, the police had the bright idea to see if any neighboring Tesla owners may have recorded a potential suspect with Sentry Mode.

Sentry Mode is an integrated surveillance system inside Tesla vehicles. It uses the car’s external cameras to detect potential threats. It automatically starts recording if it detects someone approaching the vehicle when activated.

With the police being clearly aware of Sentry Mode as a useful aid, perhaps this is a look into the future of police investigations. Videos have been used to help police identify criminals in the past, but the is the first instance known where police are actually seeking Tesla owners out for assistance.
