Volkswagen held on June 10, an event to mark the departure from the production line of its first two electric cars based on the MEB platform produced at the factory that the manufacturer operates jointly with FAW in Foshan, China. The two units in question correspond to the production version of the prototype ID. Roomzz Concept.
This SUV, whose last name is still unknown, will be presented throughout 2021 and will go on sale in China that same year. Its arrival in Europe and the United States will initially take place in 2022. However, it is not clear if the model will be imported from China or if it will be manufactured at the local Volkswagen Group plants.
If ID.4 will be a D-SUV equivalent to the current Tigual Allspace, the ID. Roomzz is possibly straddling the Touareg (E-SUV) and the Atlas (F-SUV). Its main claim will be a spacious cabin of up to seven seats, thanks to which it will be able to compete against the Tesla Model Y and Model X (among which it should be placed by size and price).
Possibly the ID. Production Roomzz is exclusively available with all-wheel drive, its powertrain consisting of two electric motors (one per axle). As for the batteries, it is rumored that it will have a 77 kWh pack (the same that we can find in the top-of-the-range versions of the ID.3 and ID.4) and another 111 kWh.
