Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, announced via Twitter his wishes to move the company’s headquarters from California to Texas or Nevada due Coronavirus response.
Over the past few weeks, the CEO made it clear of his disapproval in how the government of the state of California is handling the Covid-19 pandemic. He went as far as to call them fascists. In the meantime, Tesla tried to reopen the Fremont factory several times after California’s Governor stated for a slow reopening. However, Alameda County shut down any efforts from the company to accomplish their goal.
In return, Musk said that Tesla is filing a lawsuit to fight the county resolve to keep the Fremont factory shut. “Tesla is filing a lawsuit against Alameda County immediately. The unelected & ignorant “Interim Health Officer” of Alameda is acting contrary to the Governor, the President, our Constitutional freedoms & just plain common sense!” said the CEO. He went even further by tweeting about leaving the state altogether. “Frankly, this is the final straw. Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately.” “If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be depended on how Tesla is treated in the future. Tesla is the last carmaker left in CA.” he added.
But Musk didn’t stop there, he made it clear that he wishes that the shareholders of the company join him to file a class-action lawsuit against the Santa Clara county.
