The Transportation Design students of the European Institute of Design (IED) developed this amazing IED Tracy. A futuristic vehicle that will be exhibited at the next Geneva Motor Show, and that has been conceived as a new concept of mobility.
The IED Tracy will cover the functions of a shared or private vehicle. Still, it is not limited to the urban environment as the vast majority of cars that we already know. It got an adventurous touch because it has been conceived to ride off the road as well.
It has room for six occupants in a compact size. It measures 3.74 meters long, 2.20 meters wide, and 2.08 meters high. But even so, its non-existent overhangs have allowed configuring a spacious cabin with space for up to six occupants. The arrangement of the seats is very particular, with a bench in the form of ‘L’ to which is added a proper place for the driver and another in the opposite direction to the march in the passenger area.
The technical details are quite limited at the moment, but it is known that this IED Tracy hides an electrical mechanic, with a battery pack that will be placed on the underside of the vehicle. The logical thing would be to think that it will offer an engine for each of the wheels, but you could also use one for the front axle and another for the rear and thus become an all-wheel-drive vehicle.
Its minimalist interior is illuminated thanks to the large glazed surfaces, while passive safety is ensured by a sturdy structure, finished in a striking yellow color.
