Against the Bentley Flying Spur, the EXP 100 GT concept, the McLaren GT, and the Range Rover Evoque, the ID. Buggy won the crown of Automotive Design over the other four competitors.
The lines and curves of the concept car explain the story. It gives the feeling of fun, but at the same time, a sturdy vehicle just like its grandfather, the Beetle. Using a two-color scheme, the car appears to be floating. The round headlights and 3D breaks light complement entirely into the design. Let’s not forget that the legendary VW logo is backlit using LED.
The interior of the ID. Buggy does not lag behind. Since this car is supposed to be an off-road vehicle, the interior is made with waterproof materials. It looks like it’s just one seamless big piece and continuation with the exterior.
Everybody knows that an image is worth a thousand words. Therefore we put a gallery together. Check it out:
But the ID. Buggy doesn’t just look great. The electric 201hp motor deliveries 228lb-ft of torque and a 0-60 in 7.2 seconds. The top speed is electronically capped at 99mph. The 64-kWh battery gives the car around 155 miles of range.
“Our ID. BUGGY concept perfectly illustrates where Volkswagen came from and where we are going, all in one incredibly fun electric vehicle,” said Klaus Bischoff, Head of Volkswagen Design.
