Ford’s Rally Car is Faster than Tesla’s Roadster

Motorsport is changing and the wonders of electric mobility are making a difference in many ways! STARD is working on that and already has a 100% electric rally car. The Projekt E based on the Ford Fiesta ST is faster than any Tesla, including the Roadster.

Austrian team STARD are preparing their offensive in this new paradigm and have now introduced their Projekt E. The acceleration goes from 0 to 100 km/h and is done in just 1.8 seconds. Compared to the much-vaunted Tesla Roadster, it’s faster because Tesla can “only” reach that mark in 1.9 seconds.

This electric rally car naturally stands out for its low weight and excellent dynamic refinement. This super lightweight car with incredible grip levels is the right choice to go from 0 to 100 k/h and will be a competitor in 2020. Based on the Ford Fiesta ST, it has three electric motors, two attached to the rear axle and one to the front, specially developed for competition.

The vehicle has 600 horsepower and 1,100 Nm of torque. The battery pack is stored at the bottom of the car between the two axles. Projekt E is a new racing series that will start in 2020. This latest rally series is the result of a partnership between FIA World Rally Cross promoter IMG and STARD. The Austrian team will be responsible for the technical development of the cars and the supplier of the electric motors that equip them.
