During the event held in Normal, Illinois, the carmaker Rivian shared the future plans after its first vehicles hit the road.
The main plans of Rivian include the launch of its EVs by the end of 2020. They offer, so far, two models to its customers: A pickup truck called R1T and an SUV called R1S.
In Normal, the governor J.B. Pritzker, made a statement:
“I got to say I said ‘when can I get one, when is it going to be on retail so that some of us can go drive one?’ So I find out that maybe we are going to see them by the end of next year for consumption.” He showed some real excitement for the developing project.
Right now, the automaker employs 200 workers at its sites. With projects to remake the structure of the plant near the city of Normal, Rivian wants to be able to hire more than 1,000 workers to re-enforce the production.
They were even taking some resumes at the event. After the reassembly of the plant, the works should start at the end of 2019.
