Earlier today, luxury vehicle division of the Japanese automaker Toyota, Lexus unveiled its new battery-electric concept model. Dubbed the Lexus LF-Z Electrified concept, the new concept represents a huge leap for the brand, accelerating it efforts towards future electrification.
Lexus announced by 2025 it plans introduce 20 new or improved models, half of which will be either battery-electric (BEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or hybrid (HEV).
With this announcement and the introduction of the Lexus LF-Z Electrified concept as well as the fact that according to the automaker, the “Electric cars will use BEV-dedicated platform,” it’s safe to say that at least one, if not more of those BEVs will be a proprietary model.
The LF-Z Electrified concept offers an impressive WLTP-rated range of 600 km (373 miles) WLTP. It’s 90 kWh liquid-cooled battery will be capable of charging up to 150 kW.
With this announcement from Lexus as well as the recent Toyota-Tesla partnership, we can only hope that other brands under the Toyota Motor Corp. will jump on board the (one day electric) train towards full electrification.
