Elon Musk sent an email to Tesla employees yesterday thanking them for their efforts during the particularly difficult second quarter that all automakers are experiencing. The Next Avenue recently reported, despite the factory shutdown due to the global pandemic, Tesla could see a profit even with the slow start of the quarter.
Earlier this week, Musk revealed to employees that it was possible to break even in Q2 regardless of the restrictions put in place due to Covid-19. In order to accomplish this goal, Tesla would need to deliver about 10,000 vehicles in-transit in just the last few days of the quarter.
As the quarter came to a close, Musk sent another email to employees thanking them for their hard work “in such difficult times.” However, there was no confirmation that Tesla broke even, although Musk did say that Tesla executed “well” during the quarter.
We won’t know if Tesla turned a profit until the earnings results. Until then, Tesla is expected to release its delivery and production results for the quarter later this week.
