Ford F-150 is Coming in 2022

It’s no secret that Ford is planing to release an electric version of its most popular truck, the F-150. The car maker now plans to release it mid 2022.

Last Wednesday in a interview with CNBC Jim Farley, Ford COO, shared the company’s plan, but he did’t go into any specifics of the launch or the vehicle itself. He did say that an electric version of Ford’s Transit van has been pushed back to 2022.

If Ford’s plan concretizes, they might be a litle late to game. Tesla Cybertruck and the Hummer pickup are slated to start deliver in late 2021. Rivian’s R1T should be in some garages early 2021. The SUV version is planned to release soon after.

The F-150 EV is a big piece on Fords electify strategy, but not the only one. The Mustang Mach-e SUV should hit streets by the end of year. It’s important to remember that Ford itself invested $500 million into Rivian and that investment might give birth to an all electric Lincoln. One thing is for sure, the race for the top Electric Pickup Trucks has only begun.
