General Motors will start the sales of a variant of the “Super Cruiser,” a driver assistant that works approximately like Tesla’s autopilot.
The new version will be improved to allow additional features, such as control and lane-centering, to the owners of the Cadillac CT6 sedan.
It was announced at the time the goal of Cadillac is to bet heavily on the electric car in the coming years. Nevertheless, its president, Steve Carlisle has gone a step further, affirming that the mythical American firm could only sell 100% electric cars from the year 2030. According to the executive, the end of the 2020s will also mean “the end of the era of internal combustion engines.”
GM also plans to add vehicle sensors to look for nearby cars, lane change with a touch of the turn signal, and hands-free driving for short periods of time until 2021. Super Cruise uses a combination of LiDAR map data, high-precision GPS, cameras, and radar sensors.
