Differing from what is already known as individual charging stations around the world, Maryland now has the first electric charging station, exclusively for EVs.
The dynamics are the same as a gas station but instead of having gasoline pumps, there are power dispensers.
According to a report on CNN, the station features 4 spots for the EVs to be charged at the same time. The output has a 200kW power and can even charge the car in around 30 minutes.
The owner of the new business talked to CNN and reported that the main influence for switching the old gas station for an electric one was his daughter.
“I’m not doing this just to nickel and dime, thinking about how much money I’m going to make — no. I know this is a good cause, and this is something new. What I’m doing, maybe it will encourage other businesses owners and encourage the electric car business.”
To help him, the Electric Vehicle Institute and Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) handed a grant of $786,000 to go towards the transformation.
Maryland has over 20,700 EVs registered in the state.
