Chinese company NIO is now recalling around 5,000 of their already sold vehicles between early April and October 2018. It is more than a quarter of the 17,550 already in customers hands.
The battery packs inside the ES8 SUV have a defective module which could lead to overheating and spontaneous combustion, as a report by KrASIA stated. NIO won’t be charging the replacement.
It is not the first time the company faces problems in the market. After a $1.4 billion net loss last year, NIO closed offices in the US and erased plans for a Shangai Manufacturer.
Even though the adversities, the Chinese company started the delivering of the ES6 SUV just mid-June.
