Three months after the start of their adventure in Ushuaia (Argentina), the two Harley-Davidson LiveWire of Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman have reached the end of their journey through the south and part of North America under the title of ‘Long Way Up.’
The boys were traveling with two regular bikes plus two Harley-Davidson LiveWire. They were also accompanied by two Rivian R1T electric pick-ups, two Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4Matic vans, and a Ford F350 that would serve them as plan B when they found no one to allow them to charge their electric motorcycles. The team had extra batteries in case the LiveWire ran out of battery during the tour in the middle of nowhere.
From what the American media collects, Charlie Boorman said that “the experience of charging the motorcycles was not so bad. Most of the time, they did it in the homes of local people, even in homes where they only had generators to produce electricity.”
The English actor also said that the easiest part for them was when they crossed the US border. It was then that they could travel more kilometers a day, up to almost 500 km in front of the little more than 200 km they made in Latin America, thanks to the fact that the team already had fast chargers.
Perhaps as a first experience with electric motorcycles, it is enough to have traveled about 14,000 kilometers instead of the 20,000 km that they promised at first. Their journey has passed through countries such as Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States.
